Only Elizabeth Zimmerman has the power to encourage a knitter, who just happens to live in the southern most point of America, to knit a pair of mittens!
I suppose it's her clever designs that always makes me curious enough to actually want to knit them regardless of where I live.
Unfortunately, I have no need for them and it would be a shame to tuck them into a dresser drawer. So I decided that they shall be a Christmas present for Miss Ruth, a dear old friend of our family.
However, I must say that I'm reluctant to part with them. After all they are my first pair of hand knit mittens and I love them so very much.
Extensive project modifications and details can be found on Ravelry.

Those are nice! I have been wanting to knit that pattern for a while after seeing the Brooklyntweed knit it in Noro. I'll check out your specs on Ravelry to see which yarn you used for these.

Your mittens look great! I've never wanted to knit mittens (have knit gloves) but these are beautiful. They would be a nice challenge. You can be proud to give them as a gift.

I have that EZ book, and never thought to knit them, but seeing yours I love the way they look in person! thanks for the inspiration! They are beautiful. I think you should make another pair for Miss Ruth and hold onto yours until you are ready to let them go ;)

Those are nice. I need to get working on some mittens myself. It snowed last night!
And don't worry about parting with them. I'm sure Miss Ruth will love them as much if not more than you do!

Knit a pair in white cotton and use them as overnight protection for when you really need to slather on the hand lotion?

What's so special about the pattern that you were inspired to knit mittens?

Let's see. Lives in tropics, knits mittens. Could give them away, but wants to keep them. What to do, what to do? How about a cruise to Alaska?

LOL we have snow flurries today and our high so far has been 34 so mittens sound yummy. You do such wonderous work. Another Hoosier (that is what they call people from Indiana in case someone was wondering) I refuse to call myself that and I have been here in Indiana 10 yrs. I was born in Seattle and was raised in Seattle and San Diego so Home is Seattle I guess to me. I will have to attempt the mittens for Barbie. Made some sewn Mittens this past weekend as my grandsons asked for them and needed them quickly so sewing I do alot faster. (pictures of the cuties (grandkids, 4 of them, wearing the mittens i wipped up and hats on my blog) Thanks for the inspration, your a doll. God Bless

The mittens will make a lovely warm Christmas gift, they're so cute. EZ was a genius. I knit her knit-flat mittens just see to see how she did it.

Maybe I should try a pair. It's pretty cold here in Indiana. Maybe that should be one of those things I knit for myself after Christmas.

They're beautiful, and a lovely shade of red. I think Miss Ruth will enjoy them. And if she doesn't, well, it's cold up here in north Alabama right now.
