Inquiring minds want to know what my Fiber Goals are for 2007. After much consideration I have written down what I should like to achieve in the coming year.
My primary goal this year is complete all my Christmas knitting by August 30th. You heard that right - August 30th I want to be finished, finito, done! And what perfect timing that I found this Holiday Headstart KAL to help me along.
1. Knit at least 2 facecloths a month for Christmas gift baskets. Theresa came up with this clever idea and I think I shall do likewise for the 9 gals in our office this year. I believe they would enjoy a few face cloths and some handmade soap. I might make a few more if the spirit moves me to go further. Do you think I have enough yarn?! (26 dishcloths to be made.)
2. Knit 8 pairs of socks for Christmas gifts. One pair of gift socks per month and I should make the August goal with ease. Sandy was the inspiration for this idea.
3. I think it's time for me to knit a nice manly scarf and a couple of hats for the men in my life.
And that should free me from the pressure of gift knitting in the last few months of the year!
My secondary goal is to continue developing my skills as a knitter.
1. Learn to knit fair Isle. Aija flashed some very pretty socks that have me inspired me to take the challenge and expand my knitting abilities.
2. Overcome my inability to knit lace. I can destroy the simplest patterns in the worst possible way. Often I dream of wearing this beautiful shawl and a simple pair of Feather and Fan socks with a scalloped edge of course.
For general knitting my goals are rather simple.
Design, knit and enter a pair of socks into the State Fair this year. I've been wanting to this for a while and have just been to lazy to do it. The time has come now that I have the perfect yarn and necessary skills under my belt. I would do well to start planning this in March.
And last but not least I want to step outside my box and knit this fabby Shrug. It must have been designed with me in mind and I love it so. Lorna's Laces dk will make this beauty shine.

Just so you know it's not that I can't knit sweaters I simply choose not to. I've made many in the past with much success. I've just learn that I'm comfortable knitting small! It fits my lifestyle.
I also want to knit down this ridiculous stash and try to refrain from buying more sock yarn. It's getting overwhelming to me. April is going to bring a major stash enhancement but I have enough to keep me busy until then! The count was 41 pairs and now its 36! And I've knit 10 pairs since then. Eeeek!
Now onto things that I won't do this year.
As much as I want to I will not host any more swaps. It just takes more work and time than I care to invest. Nor will I join in any swaps, with the exception of Sockapalooooza 4. I'm saving my dollars for other things this year.
I'll pass on KAL's too with the exception of the ones listed on my side bar, Socktoberfest and possibly Project Spectrum II. All of them relate to my plans this year and I should be participate with ease.
My theme for this year is light, simple and easy to manage. Life is complicated enough without intentionally adding to it. I am looking forward to seeing how this shapes up.
TTFN, Abigail
