Roses and Cables

I've been a busy gal for the last few days of 2007 while at the Keys. I finished my last two pairs of socks for the year bringing my total pairs of socks knit to 27. This brings my total sock count to 80 pairs and still going very strong. Woot! Woot!

Both were knit in Araucania which I like but still find it very splitty. I don't think I'll use it again but I do like the colors.

Rose Garden was named after the rose gardens in San Diego. TBC and I spent many happy hours in those gardens when we were stationed there and the colors reminded me of those special times in our lives.

Faux Cables wraps things up for this year and the pattern is one of my personal favorites - More Fun than Cables.  I sped things up a bit while working on this pair. One sock was knit in a day between bouts of cookie baking with the family. Squee!

On the 7th of January I will transition to the new blog. I still have a few things left to do before the big change.

See you next year.

Merry Christmas

I hope each of you had a most wonderful day wherever you are.

Berries

Tomorrow we are going to finish out this fabulous year by playing on the beach in Key West with TBC's brother and sister in law!

On January 2nd I will resume regular blogging 3 times a week.

Now don't be surprised at the new changes when you come back. I'm still the same old knitting fool, but I am filled with a new purpose for the coming year. I look forward to seeing you then.

Happy New Year!

Let's Celebrate

Gift

In honor of the King's birthday, the Pearl family will be hosting a  celebration on the beach, Christmas evening at 7:00 p.m.

Festivities will include a magnificent fireworks display brought to you by the Fireworks technicians and please ignore the horrid packaging.

Fireworks

All are welcome to attend and we hope to see each and everyone of you there.

I'm making good progress with my pair of socks, but then the pattern works up very quickly.

If all goes well I should have the second one done Friday evening.

We are going to Key West the day after Christmas! Sister and Brother in law live there so we have free accommodations for the week! I'm so excited! I think I might pee my pants!

Have a good weekend, Abigail

Rainy Day Knitting

Though I've been deeply entrenched in my super secret project, I found some time this weekend to knit. Lucky for me the weather helped me in my endeavor. It rain and rained and rained some more. There was so much rain that our front porch flooded, but the door remained water-tight and the living room stayed dry. For which we were truly thankful.

Riverrapids

Anyway, the pattern is River Rapids which is perhaps my favorite pattern for secret sock swap knitting. So very stretchy that it guarantees that is will fit anyone.

I choose Aruacuna yarn for my pal. The color way reminds me of a garden of roses but the yarn itself is a little on the splitty side. Have you tried it yet?

Catching Up

I have a super secret project going on these days so thus the blog silence. Don't worry I'm not fading into darkness. Trust me, all will be reveal in January. But it will be good or so my friends tell me.

Today I have been busy decorating the newest tree around here.

Psst....did you click on the red words?

Have a good weekend!

Excuses

After my morning constitution today, I tried to convince Miss Sock that we should have a refreshing swim or perhaps spend a few minutes in the Jacuzzi, before we get down to business of grocery shopping and housekeeping.

She refused, mumbling something about the steam rising from the heated pool. The camera and I did not believe her lame excuse. Though I will admit that it was a bit cool this morning - a bone chilling 60 degrees! I so love this place.

Pool

Miss Sock said that watching the birds was much more enjoyable than freezing to death in a pool. Oi!

Whitebird

Tomorrow I shall go without her and bring my swimsuit along instead.

Satisfaction

I think that there is no greater compliment to a knitter than seeing a loved one willingly choose to wear a hand knit garment that was crafted specifically for them. Feet_2

This speaks volumes to me and warms my heart to no end. It also provides much needed reassurance that my sock knitting skills shall always be needed even though we live in sunny Florida!

Freedom

Blogging without Obligation is a concept that brings freedom to many a blogger, myself included. So today I choose to join those who need the liberation from the chore of blogging and the freedom to knit or not.

In all honesty, I have grown weary of feeling pressured that I have to knit in order to feed the blog. From here on out I will knit only because I find joy in it and for no other reason.

When those times come that I do not have knitting to share, I shall bore you with tales of my new life in Florida, the challenges of being a wife and a mother to our teenage son and life in general.

Of course I have been doing this for months and you seem to enjoy the course change as much as I do.

Alone

I supposed I just needed to free myself from self-inflicted guilt and obligation, with a public statement.

Have a great weekend and remember I adore each and everyone of you, whether you comment or not!
