Turn the Page

A new chapter in our lives started today when we arrived safe and sound in Florida. Would you like to see where I'm living now? Look carefully at the large building on the bottom right hand corner, and you will see me waving back at you!

I'm off to the beach for a refreshing swim to shake my tail feathers. They have gone decidedly flat in the past 4 days as we driven across the massive expanse of my beloved United States, that I am honored to call home!

Head East

Our long journey across the US began yesterday evening. We are going home my friends - home to the sea! I could dance and sing with joy! Acutualy I did - the whiskey was quite helpful:D

My last picture of the Arizona Sky.

Checking out

The packers are here, my house is in total chaos, the dog has gone completely nuts, the yarn is packed, the car is loaded, hubby is doing the last bit of yard work, RB has an army of friends over for one last ho-rah (All of whom are looking for food in my empty fridge and claiming that they are starving to death. I really don't believe them.) and last but certainly not least, our friend "The Plummer" is here fixing our loo for the very last time! I think I shall loose my mind in the next few minutes. Is it to early for a medicinal glass of whiskey?

Got to go........ see you on Saturday.

Arctic Ice

Yeah for me! During all the last minute preparations for the big Exodus I finished my last pair of socks for July ~ Arctic Ice. I love them. Just a simple vanilla sock, boasting a 2x2 rib and stockinette stitch all the way to the toe. The yarn is very squishy and cozy. The identity is unknown. I lost the ball band. Oops.

If my calculations are correct this is the 74th pair of socks that I've knit and only the 18th pair for this year. I need to knit faster if I'm going to catch up with Sockergirl - her total count is 81! Amazing!

Now I must dash, so many things to do before Thursday.

Made For Each Other

Tahoe from Lorna's Laces and River Rapids sock pattern are well matched, in my humble opinion. I do hope that my Sockapalooooza Pal agrees.  What do you think?

No time for blogging, no time for Ravelry, no more fun and games, last minute preparations for the move must be finished......I'll chat with you on Monday. Have a good weekend and knit a few stitches for me.

P.S. Here's a shout out to my Sockapalooooza Pal.

I changed my addy in the data base today so you should find my Florida addy in there. If it still reflects my Arizona addy please let me know asap. I am so looking foward to meeting you. Cyber hugs:D

Got Ravelry?

I do and I might not ever be seen here again - just kidding:D Ravelry is positively brilliant!

This weekend I  whipped out a pair of anklets. A simple Thuja modified for my gauge, knit them toe up and finished them with a tubular bind-off. Does this surprise you?

We are now in the final count down of of great Exodus! The packers will arrive next week on the 26th and box our belongings. The following day the moving van will load the boxes and start its long journey to Florida. Saturday the 28th, we will follow suit.  We hope to be in Florida by August 1st.

Lady Rose

Batman gingerly carried Lady Rose into the KRI and carefully placed her into the waiting hands of his favorite physician, Dr. Knitty Frogpond. In that brief moment Dr. Frogpond knew that she would have to explore her vast resources of knitting knowledge and skill to restore her patient to her former glory.

After a lengthy examination with her newest patient, the Dr. carefully considered all methods of repair suggested by her colleagues at the Knitter's Reconstruction Institute. Due to the location of the injury, which was below the heel turn, she felt there was only one viable course of treatment. It would require drastic reconstructive surgery. A procedure that would not leave a single scar on such an elegant woman. The most dreaded and feared treatment of all - Rip and Re-knit! Dr. Frogpond was confident that she could safely preform the labor intensive procedure.

A few hours later and many yards of yarn skillfully re-knit and set, Lady Rose awoke feeling a little woozy from her tramatic ordeal. As she looked around her room she noticed the Dr., who was sitting in a chair next to her bed and was smiling at her with great satisfaction. "All is well gracious Lady. The surgery was a tremendous success.  You shall be released from hospital tomorrow morning. Batman has made arrangements for you to recuperate at Wade Manor with your sister." Lady Rose released a sign of contentment and fell back asleep. Re-knitting tissue is very exhausting indeed.

Many weeks later after Lady Rose was released from Hospital, she was spotted by the Paparazzi visiting with her sister, who now resides permanently at Wade Manor.

It appears that she has made a full recovery:D

Fly Boy

At 6:00 a.m. Monday morning we arrived at the Payson Airport for another thrill seeking adventure for my son.  He so enjoys those "Flying Machines".

A friend of ours built this wee tiny plane, which just fascinates our boy.

The pre-flight inspection:

I love this smile. It could light up New York City!

Could this be a future Navy Pilot? One could only hope that he would be the first Officer in the family. We would be so proud.

Did I distract you from the complete absence of knitting content?

News Bites

Good evening ladies and gentleman.

I'm Robert Tink bringing you the latest news from the SKND. That would be the Sock Knitters News Desk for those of you who just tuned in.

This week I have the following updates on the Pearl family.

First, the Pearls would like to thank all of you who joined in their celebration last week. They are relived that the house has been sold and it is scheduled to close on August 10th. Four days before Mrs. Pearl's birthday.

The family is becoming rather anxious to start their much anticipated Exodus on July 28th! They anticipate arriving at their new home on the 31st. Mr. Pearl is becoming increasingly impatient with waiting and regrets that he agreed to stay another month at his current position.

The Pearl kitchen is rather sparse these days. Pastrami and mayonnaise sandwiches are not a match made in heaven. Mr. Pearl ate it rather reluctantly and pronounced the combination utterly distasteful. I agree.

I am pleased to report that Mrs. Pearl's silly dishcloth patterns are now flying around Ravelry. But she is waiting rather anxiously for her own invitation.

She also re-designed her blog page and it has been well received. Her mother had this to say: "Wow, Missy you did a great job!" This pleased Mrs. Pearl and warmed her heart. You might be interested to know that her mother has always called her Missy, since the she was a wee tiny babe. In fact the entire clan refers to her as Missy. And she often forgets her given name or does not respond to it at all!

Mrs. Pearl's beloved mother is celebrating another birthday tomorrow and is still waiting for her daughter to knit those socks. It is reported that the yarn is dissatisfied with every pattern the knitter comes up with. We will have to wait and see what comes of this belated gift.

Master Pearl has been pestering his mother as of late. It seems as if a new pair of hand knit socks are needed. He is becoming much taller and his feet are keeping pace with his increased stature.  A mothers job is never done when it comes to constant and endless manufacture of hand knit socks!

Mrs. Pearl fainted the other day while she was perusing the latest KnitPicks catalog. Fortunately, her quick thinking son caught her before she hit her head on the coffee table. You might be curious as to what cause such unexpected fainting spell. A brief interview with her yielded the following and unexpected development. Knitpicks has just released a set of sock needles in several new sizes, which left her speechless for quite sometime. Shortly after her recovery, she quickly ordered 2 sets and is hoping that the needles will arrive before they leave Arizona for the last time.

Knitpicks

She has recovered from the excitement, and has regained her sensibilities at least temporarily.

Some late breaking news has just been confirmed by our SKND news team.

Oh, this is is very exciting, ladies and gentleman!

Mr. Pearl is purchasing a Laptop for Mrs. Pearl's birthday in August! He has grown rather weary with her constant use of his own laptop and feels that he would be better off if she had her own. He is one very smart man.

And this concludes this evenings report. I'm Robert Tink signing off.

Remember - In all life's occasions, knit!

Good Tidings

I, the lowly Town Crier, am pleased to announce the following:

Soldv4

"At 2:15 p.m. today, Mrs. & Mr. Pearl happily signed a contract to sell their home, for a goodly sum! The couple wishes to thank each and every one who sent well wishes and prayers their way."

There will be much rejoicing, revelry and good old fashion "merry making" in Arizona tonight! Be sure to come and join the celebration:D
